On the occasion of the professional holiday of Bulgarian archaeologists on February 14, the Center for Underwater Archaeology received an invitation from the leadership of Montessori Primary School in Varna to introduce their students to the history of Bulgarian underwater archaeology. A short lecture with a presentation was delivered on underwater archaeological research, both past and present. Educational popular science videos about underwater investigations in the Northern Black Sea region and Nessebar – a UNESCO city – were shown. These videos were created with an educational focus and funded by the National Culture Fund. The children were also given a demonstration of modern diving equipment, including a full-face mask purchased with financial support from the NCF as part of the innovative educational project “Maritime School of Underwater Archaeology.”
