Born in 1965 in Sofia. He has a master’s degree in geophysics since 1990, in 1996 he obtained a diploma in Economics and International Trade Law, in 2000 he specialized in computer science in engineering technologies.
He began his professional experience as a researcher-geophysicist at the Institute of Thracology, Laboratory of Archaeometry, BAS in 1989. He specialized in geophysical prospecting of archaeological sites both on land and under water. Since 1990, he has been an associate member of the Centre for Underwater Archaeology (CUA) in Sozopol, where he is responsible for geophysical surveys in all projects including: South Stream – 2014, Varna Lakes 2016-2020, Durankulak 1990 – 2022, Ropotamo 2017 – 2019, and others. In the period 2015 – 2018, he has been a member of the scientific team in the world’s largest marine archaeological project “Black Sea”, known as MAP Black Sea, in which he was a geophysicist representing the Bulgarian country.
He is a member of the Bulgarian Geophysical Society. Author of numerous reports, specialized data processing software, and processing and measurement methodologies. He has repeatedly participated in scientific conferences and forums in Bulgaria and around the world, as well as numerous publications.
Outside the scope of geophysical interests, in particular marine geophysics, Eng. K. Velkovsky is a specialist in the field of glazed facades specialized in area of energy efficiency, daylighting and shading properties of the facades. It is a leader in this direction in the country and abroad, having a long-term fruitful cooperation with the famous architect Dr. Helmut Koester, Germany. He is a co-author in one of the most iconic and energy-efficient buildings in the country, winner of numerous awards from various competitions. He holds 4 design patents in this field. Co-founder and member of the Bulgarian Green Building Council.
